Akinbinu, Tot score as El Merriekh SC Bentiu defeat Al Hilal FC Wau

El Merriekh SC Bentiu have recorded a 2-0 win against Al Hilal FC Wau to return to the top of the 2024/2025 South Sudan Premier League log.
After a shaky start with many missed scoring chances, Nigerian striker Samuel Akinbinu gave El Merriekh SC Bentiu the lead after 32 minutes.
But the Al Hilal FC Wau team continued to defend in numbers and compacting the midfield before the first half ended 1-0 at the Juba National Stadium.
In the second half Al Hilal FC Wau made some changes and started to push forward to try and level matters, but the defending line of El Merriekh SC Bentiu stood firm.
After 65 minutes El Merriekh SC Bentiu was awarded a penalty after a tackle in the box. Tot Maet Dah stepped forward and converted the penalty.
The win sends interim coach Richard Justin’s back top of the summit with 18 points after seven matches played. Koryom FC who beat Malakia FC 2-1 in a scone match played today move to second place with 18 points, but a lower goal difference than El Merriek SC Bentiu.

El Merriekh SC Bentiu finish third in inuagural 2024/2025 South Sudan Premier League

El Merriekh SC Bentiu humbled Alhilal FC Wau 5-0 in their last 2024/2025 South Sudan Premier League match played on Saturday.
Djibouti international Samuel Akinbinu and Mohamed Musa Eldai netted a brace each, while Alamin Saed scored the other in a match played at the Juba National Stadium.
The win saw coach Ibrahim Hussein’s side move to 58 points to finish third behind arch-rivals Jamus SC and second placed Kator FC.
From 26 matches played El Merriekh SC Bentiu won 18, drew 4 and lost a similar number.
But head coach Hussien has made it clear they will have to prepare better for the new 2025/2026 season and also do some recruitment to strength the team.
The inuagural 2024/2025 South Sudan Premier League was sponsored by MTN South Sudan.

El Merriekh SC Bentiu fight back to defeat 10-man Bentiu City 2-1

El Merriekh SC Bentiu won the bragging rights stopping 10-man Bentiu City 2-1 in a 2024/2025 South Sudan Premier League match played at the Buluk Training Centre on Thursday.
Bol Gatnyai gave Bentiu City FC the lead after only three minutes.
But El Merriekh SC Bentiu continued to attack in numbers in search of goals. Bentiu City FC went for the break leading 1-0.
After the interval El Merriekh SC Bentiu continued to press, but Bentiu City FC defended in numbers. Bentiu City FC’s goal scorer Gatnyai was later sent-off.
In the last 10 minutes of the match Sameul Akinbinu and Ajak James scored to ensure El Merriekh SC Bentiu collected maximum points.
The win sends El Merriekh SC Bentiu to 55 points from 25 matches played. Victory for El Merriekh SC Bentiu in their last match against Wajuma FC on Saturday will see them finish third.

Muhamed Musa scores five as El Merriekh SC Bentiu thump Young Star 9-1 in Premier League match

Forward Muhamed Musa Eldai was on the score sheer five times as El Merriekh SC Bentiu thumped Young Stars FC 9-1 in a South Sudan Premier League match played on Friday.
The goal hungry Eldai gave the reds the lead after only a minute at the Juba National Stadium.
He scored two more goals together with Telhloach Thor who also picked a first half brace.
After the interval James Joseph oulled back a goal for Young Star FC after 56 minutes. But Eldai was still hungry for more goals as he scored two more, together with Gaeten Masha and Tot Maet who scored a goal each.
The win sends El merriekh SC Bentiu to 49 points from 23 matches played. Holy Family FC who held Jamus SC to a goalless draw lead the table with 58 points from 26 matches played. Jamus SC and Kator FC are in second and third places respectively.
