Ex-International Justin Lado appointed El Merriekh SC Bentiu Interim coach
El Merriekh SC Bentiu has announced the appointment of Richard Justin Lado as the new head coach on interim basis.
Club Secretary General Wali Wunow Keah made the announcement on January 8th, 2025.
The former national team player will serve as the interim head coach as the Club continues to search for a permanent coach.
“Under Coach Richard Justin’s leadership, we look forward to building on our strengths and addressing the challenges ahead. We believe that with his expertise, our team will continue to develop and pursue success on and off the field,” said the Club Secretary General.
He said they are thrilled to have Richard Justin step into this role.
El Merriekh SC Bentiu will next face Holy Family FC in a South Sudan Premier League match on January 12th, 2025 at the Juba National Stadium.

Five El Merriekh SC Bentiu players earn national team call-up
The South Sudan national team head coach Nicolas Dupuis has invited a 26-man squad that includes five El Merriekh SC Bentiu players ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
Dupuis named the team on Tuesday ahead of the two group Ba matches against Senegal and Togo.
The Bright Star will host 2019 Africa Cup of Nations champions Senegal on October 10th, and take on Togo six days later with both matches to take place at the Juba National Stadium.
The five El Merriekh SC Bentiu players invited include; Pal Paul Puk, Atir Thomas Tom, Wani Ivan Adebo, Chol Peter Bentiu and Keer Mangar Majok.
South Sudan are bottom of Group B with 4 points picked from four draws from eight matches played.

Regional CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025 finally confirmed for Tanzania
El Merriekh SC Bentiu will be one of the twelve teams tussling it out in the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025.
The regional tournament will take place September 2-15th in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
El Merriekh qualifies as South Sudan’s representatives after finishing runners-up in the South Sudan Cup which was eventually lifted by Jamus SC who also won the League title.
“We expect to have a more competitive tournament as most of the teams will use it to prepare ahead of the 2025/2026 CAF competitions,” says Auka Geceho, the Executive Director of the CECAFA added Gecheo.
Last year El Merriekh SC Bentiu also featuring in the regional tournament, but bowed out in the group stage. Zambia Premier League side Red Arrows went on to lift the title.
Besides El Merriekh SC Bentiu, the other teams expected to feature in the regional tournament include; Vipers SC (Uganda), Mlandege SC (Zanzibar), Al Hilal (Sudan), Kenya Police FC (Kenya), Ethiopia Insurance (Ethiopia), MCC FC (Somalia), APR FC (Rwanda), Aigle Noir FC (Burundi), Young Africans SC, Simba SC (Tanzania) and ASAS Djibouti Telecom (Djibouti)

El Merriekh SC Bentiu to face Uganda Premier League side NEC FC
El Merreikh SC Bentiu will face Uganda Premier League side, NEC FC in an international friendly match on Wednesday.
After settling for a 3-all draw against Kampala University FC in another build-up match played on Monday, Coach Ibrahim Hussein will have another opportunity to assess his team against NEC FC.
“I am happy that we are having the opportunity to train and also play friendly matches with teams in Uganda,” says Coach Hussein.
The match against NEC FC will be played at the Nsambya YES Centre. NEC FC who finished second in the 2024/2025 Uganda Premier League will represent Uganda in the 2025/2026 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
