El Merriekh SC Bentiu finish third in inuagural 2024/2025 South Sudan Premier League
El Merriekh SC Bentiu humbled Alhilal FC Wau 5-0 in their last 2024/2025 South Sudan Premier League match played on Saturday.
Djibouti international Samuel Akinbinu and Mohamed Musa Eldai netted a brace each, while Alamin Saed scored the other in a match played at the Juba National Stadium.
The win saw coach Ibrahim Hussein’s side move to 58 points to finish third behind arch-rivals Jamus SC and second placed Kator FC.
From 26 matches played El Merriekh SC Bentiu won 18, drew 4 and lost a similar number.
But head coach Hussien has made it clear they will have to prepare better for the new 2025/2026 season and also do some recruitment to strength the team.
The inuagural 2024/2025 South Sudan Premier League was sponsored by MTN South Sudan.

Rehan’s goal gives El Merriekh SC Bentiu win against Al Hilal FC Wau
El Merriekh SC Bentiu have stopped Al Hilal FC Wau 1-0 to close the gap on table leaders Kator FC in the South Sudan Premier League.
Rehan Anger netted a second half goal to ensure El Merriekh SC Bentiu collected maximum points in a tough match played at the Juba National Stadium on Friday.
The win sent El Merriekh SC Bentiu to second place with 22 points from nine matches played, behind Kator FC who have collected one point more. Jamus SC who have played eight matches are in third place with 20 points.
El Merriekh SC Bentiu will return to action on December 1st against Wajuma SC at the Juba National Stadium.

We shall bounce back after defeat in the League – Coach Ibrahim Hussein
The head coach of El Merriekh SC Bentiu, Ibrahim Hussein has promised that after suffering their first defeat on Sunday, the team will bounce back to winning ways in the 2025/2026 South Sudan Premier League.
El Merriekh SC Bentiu suffered it’s first defeat going down 2-0 to Kator FC in a match played on Sunday at the Juba National Stadium.
The defeat saw El Merriekh SC Bentiu remain with 13 points from six matches played and dropped to 4th place on the table behind Kator FC, Jamus SC and Malakia FC.
But head coach Ibrahim Hussien has called on the players to keep working hard because there are many more matches to be played. “We need to remain focused to be able to get positive results in the other matches to come. The defeat to Kator is a wake-up call and we must work hard and improve,” says the head coach.
The coach made it clear that although they have managed to score 21 goals from six matches played, the team still has to improve on several areas including the defending.

Masha, Victor, Akinbinu on target as El Merriekh SC Bentiu register win
El Merriekh SC Bentiu have defeated Holy Family FC 3-0 to increase their lead in the 2025/2026 South Sudan Premier League.
Getan Masha gave El Merriekh SC Bentiu the lead after 19 minutes, and Nelson Victor made it 2-0 going in the break at the Juba National Stadium on Thursday.
After recess the Holy Family FC tried to push forward to try and find goals, but failed to beat the well organized defending line of the El Merriekh SC Bentiu side.
Forward Samuel Akinbinu made it 3-0 after 80 minutes to ensure El Merriekh SC Bentiu collected maximum points to increase their lead to 13 points on the log.
After five matches played The Pride of Bentiu have won four matches, drawn once and scored 21 goals.
