Chan Majak scoops top scorer’s Award as El Merriekh SC Bentiu suffer defeat in South Sudan Cup

Although El Merriekh SC Bentiu failed to win silverware in the South Sudan Cup, forward David Chan Majak scooped the top scorer’s Award.

El Merriekh SC Bentiu suffered a 4-2 defeat in penalty shoot-outs to Jamus SC in the final played at the Juba National Stadium on Tuesday. The match had ended goalless after 90 minutes.

The Awards ceremony attended by different guests also graced by the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) President Augustino Parek Maduot

El Merriekh SC Bentiu’s Majak scooped the top scorer’s Award, while, Jamus SC’s Majak Mawit Maling and Thomas Bawak were voted best goalkeeper and Most Valuable Player (MVP) respectively.

Zain South Sudan are the sponsors of the 2024/2025 Zain South Sudan Cup which attracted over 30 teams.

Techloach Thor hits hat-trick as El Merriekh SC Bentiu through to South Sudan Cup Group A semis

El Merriekh SC Bentiu has qualified for the semi-final stage in Group A (Juba) of the South Sudan Cup.

Handled by coach Ibrahim Hussein, El Merriekh SC Bentiu brushed aside Malakia FC (Torit) 8-0 in the return leg played at the Buluk ground on Sunday.

The win saw El Merriekh SC Bentiu qualify on a 13-1 goal aggregate.

Techloach Thor scored a hat-trick, while Nelson Victor, Ramkel Lok, Samuel Akinbinu, Gaetan Masha and Mohammed Musa also got their names on the score sheet.

El Merriekh SC Bentiu have now joined Cup holders Jamus SC, and Nile City FC at the semi-final stage. The return leg of the match between Atlabara FC and Koryom is yet to be decided.

The South Sudan Cup is being played in Group A (Juba), Group B (Rumbek) and Group C (Renk). The competition is sponsored by Telecommunication company, Zain South Sudan.

El Merriekh SC Bentiu silence Malakia in South Sudan Cup first leg knock-out stage

It’s advantage El Merriekh SC Bentiu after picking a 5-1 win against Malakia FC in the first leg of the knock out stage of the South Sudan Cup.

Tot Maet and Jack James scored to give El Merriekh SC Bentiu a 2-0 half time lead at the Buluk Play ground on Wednesday.

Leonard Onyango also netted for the Al Malakia team, while Theloach Thor Manyjang scored the third goal for El Merriekh SC Bentiu.

Man of the match Chan David Majok added two more goals to ensure El Merriekh SC Bentiu collect a comfortable win.

The two teams will face-off again in the second leg of the knock-out stage on April 6th. The South Sudan Cup is sponsored by Zain South Sudan.
