Chan Majak scoops top scorer’s Award as El Merriekh SC Bentiu suffer defeat in South Sudan Cup

Although El Merriekh SC Bentiu failed to win silverware in the South Sudan Cup, forward David Chan Majak scooped the top scorer’s Award.

El Merriekh SC Bentiu suffered a 4-2 defeat in penalty shoot-outs to Jamus SC in the final played at the Juba National Stadium on Tuesday. The match had ended goalless after 90 minutes.

The Awards ceremony attended by different guests also graced by the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) President Augustino Parek Maduot

El Merriekh SC Bentiu’s Majak scooped the top scorer’s Award, while, Jamus SC’s Majak Mawit Maling and Thomas Bawak were voted best goalkeeper and Most Valuable Player (MVP) respectively.

Zain South Sudan are the sponsors of the 2024/2025 Zain South Sudan Cup which attracted over 30 teams.

Tethloach Thor scores late to guide El Merriekh SC Bentiu to South Sudan Cup 2026 semi final stage

El Merriekh SC Bentiu has advanced to the semi-final stage of the South Sudan Cup 2026.

Coach Ibrahim Hussein’s side defeated arch-rivals Jamus SC 1-0 in a hotly contested quarter final match played on Monday at the Juba National Stadium.

The two teams created some good scoring opportunities at either side, but Tethloach Thor scored the all important goal seven minutes into added time to ensure El Merriekh SC Bentiu advanced to the next stage.’

El Merriekh SC Bentiu who are also top of the South Sudan Premier League table will next face the winner between Al Hilal FC and Gurei City FC at the semi-final stage.

Al Ghazala SC will face Atlabara FC is the second semi-final tie.

El Merriekh SC Bentiu thrash YDS Yirol 7-0 to storm South Sudan Cup quarter final stage

El Merriekh SC Bentiu have walloped YDS Yirol FC 7-0 in the South Sudan Cup round of 16.

The comfortable win at the Juba National Stadium saw El Merriekh SC Bentiu storm the quarter final stage where they are likely to face arch-rivals Jamus SC.

Peter Chol gave El Merriekh SC Bentiu the lead after only four minutes, and Pal Paul Puk made it 2-0 23 minutes later.

Mohammad Musa netted a hat-trick, while Philip Keer Manger and Shabani Hussein also had their names on the score sheet.

Coach Ibrahim Hussein praised the team for the hard work which saw them register a big score.

Techloach Thor hits hat-trick as El Merriekh SC Bentiu through to South Sudan Cup Group A semis

El Merriekh SC Bentiu has qualified for the semi-final stage in Group A (Juba) of the South Sudan Cup.

Handled by coach Ibrahim Hussein, El Merriekh SC Bentiu brushed aside Malakia FC (Torit) 8-0 in the return leg played at the Buluk ground on Sunday.

The win saw El Merriekh SC Bentiu qualify on a 13-1 goal aggregate.

Techloach Thor scored a hat-trick, while Nelson Victor, Ramkel Lok, Samuel Akinbinu, Gaetan Masha and Mohammed Musa also got their names on the score sheet.

El Merriekh SC Bentiu have now joined Cup holders Jamus SC, and Nile City FC at the semi-final stage. The return leg of the match between Atlabara FC and Koryom is yet to be decided.

The South Sudan Cup is being played in Group A (Juba), Group B (Rumbek) and Group C (Renk). The competition is sponsored by Telecommunication company, Zain South Sudan.
